Lithuanian pupils won medals in international mathematics Olympiad

All Lithuanian pupils representing our country won medals at the 49th international pupils" mathematics Olympiad held in Madrid.

Vytautas Gruslys, pupil of Vilnius lyceum, who has been participating in the Olympiad for several years in a row, won silver this year, informs ELTA.

 

Vaidotas Kurlianskas, from Kaunas Technology University Gymnasium, and Gytis Zilinskas, from Vilnius lyceum, will bring bronze medals from the Olympiad.

 

Members of the Lithuanian pupils" team: Julius Jonusas from Vilnius lyceum, Vaidotas Juronis from Kaunas Technology University Gymnasium and Jonas Pauliukevicius from Kedainiai "Sviesioji" gymnasium were awarded with citations.

 

According to the data provided by the Education and Science Ministry, last year Lithuanians won a golden and two bronze medals in the Olympiad.

 

Our pupils team this year collected the same amount of points as last year and captured the second place among those countries that have the population of less than 5 million people.

 

The Lithuanian representatives have been participating in the international mathematics Olympiads since 1992.
