Grinberga has translated, among other authors, the works of Jaan Kross, Jüri Ehlvest, August Gailit, Maimu Berg, Andrus Kivirähk and Peeter Sauter from the Estonian language into Latvian.
At the award ceremony, minister of foreign affairs Urmas Paet stated that the idea of issuing a translating award was coined a little more than a year ago by Estonian and Latvian ambassadors with the aim to improve relations between Estonia and Latvia and to motivate translators to mediate good Estonian literary works into the Latvian language and vice versa.
