The Tallinn University concluded an agreement with the headquarters of the Chinese Confucius Institute to create the institute’s branch in Estonia and on Tuesday the rector of the University Rein Raud concluded a co-operation agreement with the new partner university, writes LETA referring to National Broadcasting.

Tallinn University’s partner university in China will be the Quangxi University in Southern China.

The institute’s project manager Kadri Sundja noted that the agreement concluded on Tuesday will make it possible for teachers with Master’s degrees to teach Chinese language in Estonia with financing from China. While thus far the Chinese language was taught in the university only to students of the university or through the Open University, now everyone would be able to attend the courses.

Sundja added that language studies will be only one of the aspect of the new co-operation form. “The institute will certainly organise different academic and popular courses and lectures that will be open for everyone,” stated Sundja.
