“I am glad to not that the same can be said for their working conditions,” noted Ilves.

The head of State met with a number of young scientists and said that he was glad that Estonian universities are co-operating in the field of science. This is one of the preconditions for the world not only to hear of Estonia as a country with well-developed information technology or genetic engineering, but also with a good reputation in science at large.

“I am certain that a number of universities in the European Union envy Chemicum (the Chemistry Faculty facilities in the University of Tartu) as well as the reliable database of the Gene Bank – both of these facilities guarantee that the University of Tartu would have a competitive international reputation,” said Ilves.

The President also expressed his satisfaction over the fact that a number of major Estonian companies and the researchers of chemistry in the University of Tartu co-operate actively.
