The coronavirus infection has affected around a tenth of schools in Lithuania, Education, Science and Sports Minister Algirdas Monkevicius says, LETA/BNS informed.
"COVID-19 has affected around 10 percent of all schools. Almost 1,500 children within the general election system are self-isolating, which is not a lot as they make 0.4 percent of the total number. There are also around 110 such teachers," the minister told the national radio LRT on Monday.
91 pupils and 31 teachers were ill with COVID-19 as of Monday morning, the minister said, adding that only several cases have been recorded when the coronavirus was contracted at school. In most cases, pupils and teachers got infected in other environments, the minister said.
"The number of infected university students is very low and is below ten in all universities,"
Monkevicius said.
