Govt to increase international attractiveness of Estonian universities

The government is planning to increase the international attractiveness of Estonia's higher education establishments and support the learning mobility of Estonian students and university teachers, writes LETA/BNS.

Next year, the state will ensure the evaluation of the qualifications proving higher education obtained in another country and qualifications for access to higher education obtained in another country, including academic degrees, diplomas, certificates and similar, determination of their equivalents in the Estonian education system and making of proposals for their recognition.


In addition, the availability of various domestic and international instruments supporting the learning mobility of Estonian students and university teachers will be ensured. These include, for instance, the European Union financed Erasmus+ mobility program, grants and scholarship under international agreements, the support measure for young scholars provided in collaboration with private sector, the Kristjan Jaak scholarship, the Nordplus program in higher education, and so on, it appears from the bill of the 2021 state budget submitted by the government to the parliament.


Funding for aforementioned measures is to total 3.6 mln euros in 2021.
