PrintRector of Estonian Academy of Arts to be sworn in via video link

Mart Kalm will be sworn in as rector of the Estonian Academy of Arts for a second term of office via a video link on Monday, informed LETA/BNS.


Kalm will take his oath of office at a meeting of the academy's council and government at 2 p.m. on Monday.

Due to the emergency situation declared in Estonia, the meeting will be held virtually and can be followed live on the academy's website at  live.artun.ee .

An electoral college at the Estonian Academy of Arts on Jan. 30 reelected Mart Kalm as the rector of the academy in the first round of voting. The meeting was attended by 58 members of the 70-strong electoral college and 50 of them voted in favor of Kalm continuing as rector.

Kalm was named candidate for the position of rector for another term by the council of the Faculty of Architecture, the council of the Faculty of Art and Culture, eight professors jointly, the Student Council, and former rector and emeritus professor Jaak Kangilaski.

Kalm's new term of office will last five years.
