Several Latvian universities included in Emerging Europe and Central Asia university ranking; Tartu among leaders

The University of Latvia (LU), the Riga Technical University (RTU), Riga Stradins University (RSU), and the Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU), have been included in the 2017 rating of QS University Rankings: ECCA (Emerging Europe and Central Asia), informs LETA.
LU has been ranked in the 44th position, which is the highest ranking among
Latvian universities, and climbing from the 47th position in the previous year.
RTU ranked 55th, RSU ranked 108th, and LLU ranked 139th.
The rating covers 2,938 universities, assessing several indicators,
including academic reputation and reputation of the university among employers.
The list is topped by Lomonosov Moscow State University, Novosibirsk State
University, and University of Tartu.
LU rector Indrikis Muiznieks
said that QS University Rankings is one of the internationally most popular
rating and the position LU has taken in it is very high.
