Audrone Pitreniene – new education minister in Lithuania

Print versionPresident Dalia Grybauskaite has signed a decree appointing Audrone Pitreniene as the minister of education and science in Lithuania, reports LETA/ELTA.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius submitted Pitreniene's candidacy to the president on Wednesday morning.
Currently Pitreniene holds the position of Chairwoman of the Seimas Committee on Education, Science and Culture. In the past she worked for many years at schools and at the Education Department of Skuodas District Municipality.
Pitreniene graduated from Vilnius Pedagogical Institute (now – Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences). She received her master's degree in educational sciences from Klaipeda University. Pitreniene has been member of the Labour Party since 2003.
