BC, Riga, 30.04.2015.Print version
As LETA was informed on April 29th 2015 at the Ministry of Education, it has given authorization for the decisions made by a multitude of municipalities in all of Latvia on closing a number of local schools – for one reason or another. The number this year will be 10, and 12 will undergo reorganization.

In Riga, for example, Riga H.S. #68 will shut its doors in June; with its pupils to attend #34. In Kurzeme, Saldus Primary School will close, to become part of Saldus H.S. #2.

As for the reorganization plan, Latgale's Rezekne State High School, for example, will merge with Rezekne H.S. #1. Riga, come September 1, will welcome the new Riga Eastern High School – a merger of Elementary School #24 and High School #32.

In all cases, the ministry reviewed the individual school's quality of education, accessibility, transportation availability, the school's fate according to the latest concept for the municipal or regional school district in question, and the viewpoint of parents, teachers and the pupils themselves.
