In order to counter Russia's lies, schools should introduce media and information lessons, believes Janis Karklins, Director of NATO Center of Excellence for Strategic Communications, cites LETA.

During an interview with the daily "Neatkariga", Karklins mentioned specific steps that ought to be taken in order to counter Russia's propaganda.

As an example he mentioned a specialized television channel or an increased flow of information in the Russian language via the already existing media.

He also mentioned postgraduate education for journalists, adding that journalists should be self-adjusting.

Last but not least, Karklins mentioned media and information lessons in schools, as they would help improve critical thinking of the students.

In order to reduce the chance of a specific risk group being subjected to propaganda, the discontent among the public needs to be reduced. The best way to achieve this is to increase residents' welfare, Karklins emphasized.
