5% increase in the number of Latvian teachers in 2014/2015 school year

Print versionThe number of teachers working at Latvian educational establishments during the 2014/2015 school year is 30,733, which is 5.26% more than the previous school year, according to LETA calculations.

According to the Education and Science Ministry, the largest number of teachers in Latvia teach at high schools – 17,725. Last school year, 16,975 teachers taught at high schools.
This is the largest number of teachers working at Latvian high schools during the past four years, and there has been a 4.15% increase in teacher numbers since the 2011/2012 school year.
