Lithuania proposes to help Ukraine to reform its justice system

Minister of Justice in Lithuania Juozas Bernatonis met with the Ukrainian delegation headed by Yuriy Baulin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, and proposed Lithuania's help in implementing euro-integration reforms, informs LETA/ELTA.

The justice minister said that Lithuania is ready to provide expertise in carrying out essential justice system reforms. Lithuanian institutions accumulated vast experience when they ere implementing reforms during the European Union accession process.

 

Representatives of numerous institutions have implemented national and bilateral programmes, as well as programmes co-ordinated by the European Union, in transferring experience to institutions of other countries. Minister Bernatonis believes that co-operation may be beneficial to Ukraine and its people.

 

The minister of justice told the Ukrainian delegation about legal reforms currently underway in Lithuania. Meanwhile, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine shared information about legal reforms that have been launched in Ukraine and thanked for the proposal to share expertise.
