Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet said on Wednesday that Estonian-Russian border agreements will be signed in time, and the process is not stalled, Postimees Online reports, informs LETA.

"Nothing is stalled. I can understand that there was all the constant criticism that for 21 years there has been awful hurrying with the border agreement and now that no new developments have been in a month, the process is stalled?" Paet was surprised.

"When the dates are agreed upon, then the signing of the agreement will take place and we will announce of it immediately," Paet promised.

When Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Paet at the beginning of June, he promised that the Russian government would discuss the approval of border agreements to be concluded with Estonia in a few weeks time. Postimees wrote on Wednesday that nothing is certain in relations with Russia though – while in June, Eesti Päevaleht wrote that the border agreement would be signed in July latest, the foreign ministry now told Postimees that the agreements will be signed when the time for it is agreed upon. This hasn’t happened yet.
