Minister of foreign affairs Urmas Paet and his Georgian colleague Grigol Vashadze signed in Kazakhstan on Sunday a bilateral agreement on avoiding double taxation, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

During the meeting, Paet and Vashadze analysed the situation in Georgia and talked about the necessary reforms in order to enhance the co-operation with the European Union. Paet remarked that Georgia has been an active partner in the Eastern Partnership programme and in the framework of this strategy, the developments in Georgia in the areas of economy as well as in developing democratic values can be accelerated even further.

“It is also important to extend the European Union monitoring mission by another two years at least,” he said.

According to Paet, Estonia supports the continued presence of the EU monitoring mission and the active monitoring process. “In future, in addition to monitoring tasks, the mission should also have a mandate for investigating incidents and should be vested with functions of patrolling and security,” said the Estonian minister.

Paet also met during his visit to Kazakhstan the ministers of foreign affairs of Armenia, Serbia, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Macedonia, Montenegro, Thailand, Tajikistan and of Canada in bilateral meetings.
