Estonian, Ukrainian presidents: Sanctions on Russia must be maintained
BC, Tallinn , 15.04.2020.Print version
– President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid in a telephone conversation on Tuesday confirmed the importance of preserving the European Union sanctions on Russia until the territorial integrity of Ukraine is fully restored, informed LETA/BNS.
The two heads of state also agreed that the artificial use of the coronavirus pandemic for political purposes is inadmissible.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for Estonia's traditional support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, especially in the context of Estonia's non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council in 2020-2021.
"I wish your delegation to the UN Security Council a successful chairmanship this May, which will take place against the background of the unprecedented situation caused by the spread of COVID-19. I support Estonia's position that the UN Security Council must respond to the pandemic that threatens peace and world security," the president of Ukraine said.
