Latvia has the potential for export of dairy, fish products and bread to Uzbekistan, said Farmers Parliament organization after a seminar on cooperation and requirements for exports to Uzbekistan held in March, reports LETA.

The seminar in Uzbekistan was organized and chaired by Farmers Parliament board member and Musmaju Darzeni vegetable producer’s chairwoman Edite Strazdina within the framework of AgroWorld Uzbekistan 2017 fair and visit of Latvian Agricultural Minister Janis Duklavs to Uzbekistan.

"Our main export products might be butter and dairy products, fish products, bread and confectionery, as well as consultations of Latvian experts as they are highly appreciated in Uzbekistan on all levels," said Strazdina, adding that there is huge potential for cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Commenting on import of Uzbek products to Latvia, Strazdina said that not all Uzbek products meet the necessary standards. At the same time, Uzbek juices, frozen and dried fruit, melons, grapes, raising and nuts are of very high quality, but it is not clear yet whether Latvian customers will be ready to pay more for such high quality products.
