As Russia’s gas giant Gazprom negotiated the transit of Russian gas to Kaliningrad via Lithuania, the Russian government ordered to complete the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal and gas pipelines in Russia’s Baltic exclave by the end of 2017, the Verslo Zinios business daily reports, writes LETA/BNS.
Four days ahead of the signing of a ten-year contract between Lithuania’s gas transmission system operator Amber Grid and Gazprom on the transit of Russia’s natural gas via Lithuania, Russia’s government ordered to implement a project of alternative gas supply to the Kaliningrad region.
New facilities featured in the land-use planning scheme for the region include a gas transmission pipeline between the future intake equipment of the floating LNG terminal in the port of Kaliningrad and a new underground gas storage facility near the gas transmission pipeline connecting Vilnius and Kaliningrad.
