As LETA was informed by the Foreign Ministry, the seminar is being organized by the Latvian Embassy in Moscow and the Russian International Affairs Council.

Special attention was paid to EU-Russian relations, during which Makarovs pointed out that the Ukraine crisis has substantially changed relations between the EU and Russia. At the same time, it was emphasized that any type of normalization of relations between Russia and the EU would be dependent on how the Minsk agreements are being fulfilled.

Discussing Latvia-Russia relations, Makarovs emphasized that, despite the tensions in EU-Russia relations, practical cooperation on the bilateral level continues.

The seminar was attended by representatives from the Latvian and Russian foreign ministries, EU diplomats, ambassadors from Eastern Partnership and Central Asia countries, well as a wide range of Russian academics.
