Foreign Minister Pentus-Rosimannus met with the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili and Minister for European Integration David Bakradze on Friday. Topics discussed at the meetings included Estonian and Georgian bilateral relations and Estonia’s assistance in implementing the Association Agreement and regarding development issues. Pentus-Rosimannus also visited the administrative boundary line in Khurvalet.

Estonian Foreign Minister expressed the hope that at the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga next year, it is possible to move forward with the European Union and Georgia visa waiver.

She added that Georgia must continue with reforms in the state and the heads of state of Georgia have confirmed the desire and will to exist for this.

The foreign ministers' meeting focused on the open and close bilateral relations of Estonia and Georgia. Pentus-Rosimannus said that cooperation is close in defence, culture and education spheres.

At the same time, she says, in economic relations there are still plenty of opportunities to use. This would certainly be facilitated by the mutual investment protection agreement, which the states hope to sign next year.

Even closer co-operation between Estonia and Georgia in the IT field would create possibilities for use of common e-services.
