On 25 November, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius started a two day working visit to the Czech Republic and met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomir Zaoralek to discuss bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and security, and geopolitical situation in neighbouring countries, reported BC Lithuanian MFA.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers highlighted the common approach and successful cooperation within the European Union, NATO, the United Nations and other international organizations.

Special attention was dedicated to the situation in Ukraine. "When speaking of Ukraine we need to understand that the context is much wider. It does not matter whether the country is big or small; no one has the right to decide for it. When we speak about Ukraine today, we speak about the entire pan-European security architecture," said Linkevicius.

The Czech foreign minister confirmed the determination to continue to participate in NATO's Air Policing mission in Lithuania. He underlined that cooperation in the fields of military and defence was and would remain one of the most important priorities. In the short run, the Czech Republic will delegate a national expert to the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence in Vilnius.

The visit of Minister Linkevicius also includes meetings with Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Hamacek, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Karel Schwarzenberg and local media representatives.
