Berzins discusses strengthening of economic relations with British foreign secretary

Print versionDuring a meeting between Latvian President Andris Berzins and British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond in Riga today, the two sides discussed matters related to strengthening economic cooperation, LETA was informed by the president's press secretary Liga Krapane.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the political dialogue between the two countries, as well as praised the successful bilateral cooperation and active political dialogue. At the same time, economic cooperation was discussed, as well as the necessity to stimulate such cooperation.
As Berzins pointed out, Latvia wishes to see Europe as a strong and united continent, and that Great Britain is a very important player.
Also during the meeting, the officials discussed the priorities of Latvia's upcoming EU presidency, as well as matters related to the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the results of the recent NATO Summit in Wales.
