The Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Vitas Vasiliauskas met the Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, Patrick Honohan, on Tuesday in Dublin, and presented to him the latest information on Lithuania's economy and the country's preparedness to adopt the euro, informs LETA/ELTA.

On the evening before in Helsinki, Vasiliauskas discussed these issues with the Governor of the Bank of Finland, Erkki Liikanen.

The Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania this half-year is meeting with heads of euro area central banks, presenting to them the most recent economic information and projections for the Lithuanian economy as well as discussing the prospects for the euro adoption in Lithuania and the actualities of the creation of the banking union.

Vasiliauskas has already met with the heads of 14 euro area central banks as well as representatives of the European Central Bank and the European Parliament.

The European Central Bank and the European Commission in June are expected to submit an evaluation on whether Lithuania is meeting euro area membership criteria. The final decision on the euro adoption in Lithuania as of 2015 is expected to be taken in late July.
