Straujuma and Tusk: the efficiency of the Eastern Partnership must be improved

During a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw today, Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma (Unity) expressed Latvia's commitment in strengthening cooperation between the two countries even more, LETA was informed by the State Chancellery's Communications Department.

During a Latvia-Poland business forum today, as well as during a meeting with Tusk, Straujuma emphasized that Poland is a strategically important partner of Latvia, with which the country wishes to develop even closer cooperation.

 

Both officials expressed satisfaction at the close cooperation between Latvia and Poland in many areas, including culture, education and regional cooperation.

 

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the situation in Ukraine as well as energy security. Both Straujuma and Tusk were in agreement that the efficiency of the Eastern Partnership initiative must also be improved.

 

Straujuma informed her Polish counterpart about Latvia's preparations for its upcoming presidency of the European Union, as well as the successful introduction of the euro.
