Estonia and Finland have never been as strongly integrated as they are today and that has been our purposeful choice, said the prime ministers of the two states, Andrus Ansip and Jyriki Katainen after their meeting in Tallinn on Tuesday, reported BC the government's press service.

Katainen said that we have a lot in common; labour market, entrepreneurship environment, money and electric market and in the future also the gas market.

Ansip said that the good relations of the two states can be developed further in the e-governance sphere. Estonia and Finland in cooperation with the OECD plan to compile a report on developing state governance which among other things concerns development of cooperation in the e-governance sphere.

Ansip pointed out that 20,000 paper documents a year move in the Finnish and Estonian social insurance system although we have the technology that would allow them to move electronically and automatically. "It is not normal in the 21st century that people can use digital documents in their state but cannot use them when communicating with the neighbouring state," said Ansip.

The prime ministers discussed the Baltic LNG terminal and Rail Baltic projects and the very close economic relations.

Estonian and Finnish prime ministers regularly meet at least twice a year bilaterally, once in Finland and once in Estonia.
