PrintJanis Sarts to represent Latvia at informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Poland

On September 22-23, Defense Ministry's State Secretary Janis Sarts will take part in an informal meeting of European Union defense ministers in Poland.

Today, the government approved the Foreign Ministry's informative report on the meeting and ordered Sarts to represent Latvia at it.
The ministry's spokeswoman Dace Ankipane explained that, during the meeting, the Latvian side will discuss establishment of an EU operational military headquarters. The current economic situation in the country prevents Latvia from supporting its establishment, writes LETA.
At the moment, all EU operations are supervised by several headquarters throughout Europe.
During the meeting, the officials will also discuss EU operations and development of combat capabilities.
