Maris Riekstins and Andrus Ansip. Tallinn, 10.03.2010.

"The Latvian Government has been able to carry out several structural reforms and for that they merit recognition," said the Estonian head of government. Ansip noted that Latvia has become a good example for the other EU Member States on how to cut public sector spending.

During the meeting, Ansip and Riekstins noted that the situation in the Estonian economy as well as in the Latvian economy is improving.

The two high-level politicians estimated that during the economic crisis, cooperation between the two countries has been very good. Both were also certain that Estonia's accession to the euro area would support economic development in the entire region.

Ansip also introduced to the Latvian minister the Stenbock House and the hall for e-government meetings.
