PrintSo far Marciulionyte gets just 3 votes in UNESCO head elections

Ambassador Ina Marciulionyte, Lithuania's permanent representative to UNESCO, has got only 3 votes out of 58 in the first round of the elections of the CEO of the organization for the term of 2009-2013.

The way it was forecasted before the elections, the head of UNESCO was not elected during the first election round on Thursday evening, reports ELTA/LETA.

 

The second round of the elections is to take place on Friday evening.

 

In order to win the election, a candidate has to get at least 30 votes of the countries belonging to the executive board of UNESCO. A total of 5 election rounds are foreseen to achieve this.
