During this evening's Crisis Management Council meeting, it was also decided that all sports, entertainment, cultural and other recreational facilities must be closed by 11:00 p.m. during the state of emergency period.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) told members of the press that all commemorative, entertainment, cultural, sporting and recreational activities, including those in nightclubs and discotheques, as well as rallies, marches, pickets and religious activities, will be prohibited, regardless of the number of participants.

The government also decided to limit disorganized gatherings at cultural, entertainment, leisure, sports and religious venues to 50 persons or less.

However, the working hours of cultural, entertainment, sports and other recreational facilities during the state of emergency period will be limited to 11:00 p.m.

Karins explained that the purpose of state institutions is to protect the public by relying on the responsibility and common sense of residents, as well as, in extreme cases, what is prescribed in the Criminal Law.
