There is no political crisis in Latvia - Kucinskis

BC, Riga, 12.12.2018.Print version
Political parties voted into the 13th Saeima have not been able to form a new government for almost two months now - it does not necessarily mean that there is a political crisis in Latvia, but there indeed is a kind of a chaos, the outgoing Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) said in an interview with LNT television today, referred LETA.

Kucinskis' government keeps working and Saeima committees also do their job, said the premier. The main risk factor is that some of the decisions of the new Saeima may be impossible for the next government to implement.

Kucinskis said he could hardly imagine that a temporary government could work until spring, adding that he hoped the parties would pull together and form a new government. Reaching agreement is difficult as Saeima is very fragmented.

Kucinskis believes that the parties should focus on matters that unite them or what they want to achieve, not on controversial and divisive issues.

Kucinskis hopes that the New Conservative Party and KPV LV have analyzed their past mistakes and learned from them, and from now on will work constructively
