The Estonian ambassador to the United Kingdom, Tiina Intelmann, on November 16th opened the office of the Estonian honorary consul in Edinburgh, Scotland, reports LETA/BNS.

Estonia's honorary consul is IT industry executive Peter Ferry, who is a founder of the technology company Wallet.Services. With his strong connection to Estonia, the honorary consul is eagerly promoting the digital and industry links between Estonia and Scotland.

Intelmann highlighted at the opening ceremony that the digital dialogue between the two countries has recently intensified.  "There is a mutual interest in the areas of e-governance, e-health services and cyber security. For Estonian companies, partnerships with Scottish businesses could open the door to the United Kingdom's market," she said.

The opening of the honorary consul's office in Edinburgh makes it possible to extend consular services provided to Estonian citizens living in Scotland. Peter Ferry is fulfilling his responsibilities as an honorary consul since November this year.

Estonia has six honorary consuls in the United Kingdom, three of them in Scotland.
