International conference on spread of African swine fever in Europe to take place in Riga this week

Agriculture Ministry will this week host an international conference on the spread of African swine fever in Europe and measures to prevent the disease from spreading, the Agriculture Ministry's Press and Public Relations Department head Dagnija Muceniece told LETA.

The conference will be on June 1 and 2 at the Agriculture Ministry.


Participating in the conference will be European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis, Latvian Agriculture Minister Janis Duklavs, Estonian Rural Affairs Minister Tarmo Tamm, Lithuanian Agriculture Minister Bronius Markauskas, Finnish Agriculture and Forestry Minister Jari Leppa, Moldovan Agriculture and Food Industry Deputy Minister Vasile Luca, heads of European Union and third countries' veterinary services, and other experts.

A press conference will be take place at the Agriculture Ministry on June 2, where Duklavs, 


Andriukaitis and Latvian Food and Veterinary Service's Director General Maris Balodis will inform the public about the results of the international conference.
