“Estonia and Poland are very close in terms of the perception of security,” said the Estonian head of Government, explaining that this is, for example, apparent in the understanding of the reasons for the conflict in Ukraine, and the current situation in that country. “We must continue supporting Ukraine, and remember that the situation has not stabilised,” said Rõivas.

Rõivas and Duda agreed that sanctions against Russia must be continued until the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine have been restored.

The two leaders also discussed the changes in the regional security situation. “Poland's active role in the field of security is important, and the Warsaw NATO Summit has a potential of having a historic significance for our region,” said Rõivas.

Among other talking points at the meeting was the Rail Baltica project and energy security.
