BC, Vilnius, 18.07.2015.Print version
Greece will receive a bridging loan of EUR 7.16 billion by Monday, said European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis, cites AFP/DPA/LETA.

"We have an agreement on bridge financing. This agreement is backed by the 28 member states," Dombrovskis told reporters, adding that the bridging loan will allow Greece to clear its debt to the European Central Bank (ECB).

According to a statement by EU member states, the funds will be disbursed in "up to two installments," allowing Athens to also clear its arrears with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Dombrovskis also said that it will probably take a "few weeks" to finalize a third bailout program for Greece, and this will "preferably" be done before another ECB debt repayment becomes due on August 20.

He said that the issue of Greece's debt sustainability will "certainly" be part of the bailout negotiations.

As reported, eurozone leaders unanimously agreed earlier this week to a new bailout program for Greece. The new program proposes a massive aid package of up to EUR 86 million.
