Baltic Unity Day events to begin in Bauska Castle September 22
Next Saturday, September 22, the Baltic Unity Day will be taking place in and at Bauska Castle, featuring various artistic performances; the events will also be attended by Latvian and Lithuanian government members and local government officials, Lithuanian Embassy in Riga Secretary Olga Laha informed LETA.
The Baltic Unity Day events will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Culture Minister Zaneta Jaunzeme-Grende (All For Latvia-For Fatherland And Freedom/LNNK) and her Lithuanian counterpart Arunas Gelunas will participate in the events, as well as Bauska Region Council's deputy chairman Janis Feldmanis, Lithuanian Ambassador to Latvia Ricardas Degutis and Latvian Ambassador to Lithuania Martins Virsis.
The Baltic Unity Day events include lectures by historians, information on Latvian-Lithuanian cross-border cooperation, concert by the ancient music and dance group "Banchetto Musicale", a show of traditional Kuronian clothes of the 1st-14th century, screening of Lithuanian documentary "Battle of Saule" (with subtitles in Latvian), and reenactments of battles by ancient Balts will be presented.
