Festival of Instrumental Folk Music Griezyne takes place in Vilnius
International Festival of Instrumental Folk Music called Griezyne takes place in Vilnius starting from September 5, 2012, till September 7, 2012, presenting unique music genres in Lithuania, writes LETA/ELTA.
The event is the most enduring in the eastern Baltics, it is a special event held every second year in Vilnius, as its organizers state.
It emerged in 1992 as a bodily form of an idea suggested by two enthusiasts of instrumental folk music – composer Algirdas Klova and Arunas Lunys.
The name of the festival – the Griezyne – was chosen purposefully. Griezyne is a dialect word for fiddle, one of the chief folk instruments in Lithuania and in other countries.
The admission for the festival events is free of charge.
