President Berzins to bestow Order of Three Stars upon Latvian writer Inese Indrane
Today, Latvian President Andris Berzins will bestow Latvia's highest honor – the Order of the Three Stars – upon writer Ilze Indrane, LETA was informed by the Presidential Press Service.
Ilze Indrane, whose real name is Undine Jatniece, was granted the second-category Order of the Three Stars in April.
Indrane was born on April 23, 1927. She has written several novels – "Lazdu laipa", "Cepure ar kastaniem", "Aisma", "Zemesvezi dzirdet", "Putnu stunda", plays – "Tilts", "Sudraba avots", "Dzeguzite gadus skaita", "Kam tu zviedzi, kumelini?", and children's books – "Tipsis, Topsis un Tedis", "Kur ir tada egle?", "Pirmas klases pasakas", "Laba diena", "Mekleju zenu ar zalam acim".
During the Latvian National Awakening, she participated in the establishment of the Popular Front's branch in Madona, spoke and wrote about Latvia's ideals and reality.
