The 14th international theatre festival New Drama Action, or Naujosios Dramos Akcija, will present works by the masters and young artists of European theatre from May 15 – May 21, 2012, the Vilnius Convention Bureau reports.

All the works are united by their attention to otherness – that what makes one distinct from the majority, is individual and unique. Otherness provokes a new look at the world. It can be an act of changing the established values, a new look at the environment and society, or a forgotten life that awakens collective memory, writes LETA/ELTA.

Quite often an individual must defend it from the environment, family, and society. The Lithuanian theatre has begun to speak about it with more courage, as can be seen from its newest productions presented at the festival. Otherness asserts freedom. Since its emergence the New Drama Action has sought to be a different festival, a platform for new ideas provoking the Lithuanian theatre to change.
