Kirkilas signs in Kyrgyzstan joint declaration and two agreements
Print versionLithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas and the Kyrgyz Prime Minister Igor Chudinov have decided to establish an intergovernmental cooperation commission. Heads of the two states have also signed a joint declaration and two agreements: the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments, and the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income.
According to Kirkilas, these agreements will encourage economic cooperation between the two states. Although Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan are related by the ever intensifying trade relations, the two states still do not make use of the full potential in this area, informs LETA/ELTA.
The meeting also focused on transport cooperation and development cooperation matters. Kirkilas offered Lithuania’s experience in the implementation of the army reform and training of military specialists. He also offered Kyrgyzstan to join the Lithuanian-led reconstruction team in Afghanistan’s Ghore province.
The Lithuanian Minister of National Defense has also signed a Defense Cooperation Agreement in Kyrgyzstan.
Today, Kirkilas participated in Kyrgyz-Lithuanian business forum.
