Ladyfest – a popular international festival marking creative achievements of women will be held in Tallinn from March 8 to 12, for the first time in Estonia.

The festival opens on International Woman's Day, therefore organizers want to emphasize that the commemorative day is not just about giving flowers, but also about acknowledging the creations of women, informs LETA.

The festival aims to bring together Estonian female artists, musicians, writers and speakers who may be familiar with the works of their colleagues, Anna-Stina Treumund, told ERR News.

Men and women alike are invited to take part in the festival's workshops, listen to presentations, watch performances and express their opinions on different subjects concerning women and their role in society.

Organizers expect about 200 people to participate in the five-day festival.

The non-profit event got its start in Washington in 2000 and has since been gaining popularity, spreading to more than 40 cities around the globe.
