Remigijus Rekerta has been appointed as member of the Chief Official Ethics Commission (VTEK), reports ELTA/LETA.
On Thursday, the resolution on Rekerta's appointment was favoured by 124 MPs, 3 MPs abstained from voting and nobody voted against it.
Rekerta's candidature for the VTEK member was proposed for the post by the chairman of the Supreme Court.
In 2001-2008, Remigijus Rekerta studied at Vilnius Mykolas Romeris University and obtained Master's degree in law. He worked as the senior VTEK specialist in 2004-2007. Rekerta has been the head of the VTEK Prevention Division since 2007.
The VTEK is composed of five members. Only a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania having irreproachable character and higher education can be appointed as a member of the VTEK. The Lithuanian president, the Seimas speaker, the prime minister, the head of the Supreme Court and the head of the association of municipalities can appoint a member to the VTEK. The composition of the VTEK is ratified by the Seimas.
