Malcolm Lincoln to represent Estonia on Eurovision

Late on Friday evening, Estonia chose the band Malcolm Lincoln to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Norway with its song “Siren”, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.

The band won the contest Eesti Laul 2010 (“The Estonian Song 2010”) in the second round where it won the popular vote of the television audience ahead of another song with 54 per cent of votes.

In an interview given after the winner was determined, the lead singer of Malcolm Lincoln Robin Juhkental stated that their band will do its best to defend Estonia’s reputation at the contest that will take place in Oslo.

Juhkental admitted that he has not been excited about the Eurovision lately. “I have not watched the contest in the past five years – I was not particularly into all that Euro-disco,” he noted. He did not, however, resent the fact that he will take part in the contest. “The people made their decision; we will not go to make fun of it – rather, we will, I hope, perform solidly,” said Juhkental.

Estonia’s most successful year in the context of the Eurovision Song Contest was 2001 when the song “Everybody” performed by Dave Benton, Tanel Padar and 2XL won in Denmark.
