Estonia is not planning to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the accession to the European Union in 2009, writes Postimees Online/LETA.

"It would not really be appropriate; for economic reasons, and the fifth anniversary also does not justify organising major popular festivities," said the EU information manager of the Government Press Office Villu Känd.

According to Känd, the only public event will be a round table discussion to be organised a day earlier where representatives of Riigikogu, State Chancellery as well as of the European Commission will analyse the developments in Estonia in the past five years.
