Ostapenko through to French Open 2-round

Latvia's top-ranked lady tennis player Alona Ostapenko defeated Madison Brengle 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round of the French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament today, informs LETA.

Ostapenko, who triumphed in the French Open in 2017, is currently ranked 43rd in the WTA rankings, while Brengle is ranked 77th.

Ostapenko has earned 70 WTA ranking points for advancing to the second round of the French Open.
