BC, Tallinn, 14.07.2020.Print version

The Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets of the French Air Force are to carry out a flyover over Tallinn on Tuesday to mark Bastille Day, informs LETA.

The low-level flight will take place at 3 p.m. and can be best viewed from the Pirita beach area, the French embassy said.

Ambassador Eric Lamouroux invited all friends of France to take part in this year's virtual celebration of Bastille Day.

"Due to the global coronavirus outbreak, the French embassy will not be holding a traditional reception in Tallinn this year. However, everyone who wishes can join us in the festivities via the digital channels of the embassy over the entire week. As a bonus, people can enjoy the low-level flight of the French fighter jets over Tallinn today," Lamouroux said.

The Mirage 2000-5 fighters of the French Air Force are guarding the airspace of the Baltic states from the Amari air base from May to August this year. The French Air Force has been involved in the air policing mission on a regular basis since its inception in 2004. This is the second time the French are stationed at Amari as part of the NATO Baltic air policing mission.
