Ostapenko retires from first-round match at Italian Open due to health problems

Print versionLatvia's Alona Ostapenko on Tuesday retired from her first-round match at the Italian Open due to health problems, informed LETA.
Ostapenko, ranked 27th in the WTA rankings, was losing 2-6, 4-5 to Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu when she decided to withdraw from the match. Ostapenko has earned one WTA ranking point in Rome.
As reported, earlier today Latvia's No 1 tennis player Anastasija Sevastova was defeated by Switzerland's Belinda Bencic 6-2, 3-6, 2-6 in the first round of the tournament.
