In NHL action on Friday, Latvian forward Zemgus Girgensons made an assist, but his Buffalo Sabres lost to the Vancouver Canucks 3:4 (1:2, 2:1, 0:1), reported LETA.

Girgensons assisted on the Sabres' second goal to tie the game at 2:2.

So far this season, Girgensons has scored three goals and made eight assists.

In the NHL's Eastern Conference standings at the moment, the Sabres are in ninth place with 54 points from 47 matches, while the Canucks are in eighth place in the Western Conference with 50 points after 49 games.

The Sabres will next play at the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 29.
