Janis Buks was elected president of the Latvian Volleyball Federation on Friday, reported LETA/BNS. 

During the federation's general meeting today, 45 members of the organization voted for Buks, one voted against, and eight abstained.

Buks was the only candidate for the post.

The outgoing president of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, Atis Sausnitis was re-elected for the third four-year term in 2017.

Buks will remain the federation's president until the next scheduled election in 2021.

Previously Buks worked as a member of Luminor Latvija bank's board and head of the bank's corporate customers department. He was nominated for the Volleyball Federation's president by seven members of the federation
