Promising Latvian talent Rudolfs Balcers, who made his NHL debut last week, made his first NHL assist on Thursday, helping his Ottawa Senators defeat the Los Angeles Kings 4:1.

Balcers assisted his team's second goal, which was scored by Chris Tierney near the end of the second period.

In four NHL matches so far this season, Balcers has scored one goal and made one assist.

In the NHL's Eastern Conference standings at the moment, the Senators are in 14th place with 39 points from 45 matches, while the Kings are in last place in the Western Conference with 37 points.

Up next for the Senators - a road game at the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, which traded Balcers to the Senators this off-season.
