Big Baltic focus at Tbilisi film festival

The 19th International Tbilisi Film Festival will place a focus on the Baltic countries on the occasion of their centennial, as the program of the festival running from Monday to Sunday includes several films of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, informed LETA/BNS.

The program featuring the Baltic countries includes both feature films and documentaries, the Estonian Film Institute said.

Of Estonian films, "1944," "In the Crosswind," "November," "Pretenders" and "Fire Lily" will screen in the capital of Georgia. Also to screen is the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian co-production "Bridges of Time," along with the Lithuanian film "Summer Survivors," winner of the award for the best Baltic film at the recent Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

In the framework of a program for the film industry, a panel will examine the current state of play and opportunities of the film industry of the Baltic countries. A discussion will be held on the subject of gender equality in the Baltic countries are elsewhere in the world and the embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will host a Baltic reception. 

From Estonia, film directors Martti Helde, Maria Avdjusko and the head of the Estonian Film Institute, Edith Sepp, are representing Estonian film in Tbilisi.
